Synchronicity 11 years after 911

Here we are, 11 years on. Today is already weird for me and I've only been awake about an hour. It's 4:30pm here in NYC, I've slept through most of the day after a bizarre night of sleep. It wasn't so much that I couldn't wake up, but that I thought I shouldn't -- like there was important work to do in the dreamworld. I remember telling my wife as she got out of bed that I had to go back to a dream about "apples and dragons" but now I don't remember any of the details. Though I've been awake for an hour and had some coffee, I still feel very much out of it --like a part of me is still there.

When I got online, I had a message from my friend Peter that confused me even more.
How could I forget? (Isn't this a day we're told to "never forget"?)
Yes, indeed, the Sync Book is one year old today. Happy Birthday baby Sync Book. ...And you've got a little brother or sister on the way. (Sync Book Vol 2 coming soon!)
I guess my mind is distracted because I have a lot on my plate right now. I'm working on my own book (Suicide Kings) as well as Sync Book Vol 2 and trying to keep my head above water financially and find time for my family (the most important of all) and just juggling a lot. There may soon come a point where I have to put all this aside to take care of more pressing matters, but, for the moment, it feels like the work we're doing is vital and significant and worth the temporary sacrifices. I guess in my waking life too I feel like there's "important work to do in the dreamworld."

I found some time this week to begin setting up the foundations of a database. The idea is an amalgam of one from Douglas Bolles, conversations with Jason Barrera, and a related idea of my own. Doug wanted to do a "Book of Stars" depicting actors that resonate a certain archetype in the Tarot. Living in New York, I see movie posters and advertisements everywhere, and it occurred to me that the movie posters themselves were Tarot cards. I wanted to set up a database of these posters-as-cards but as Jason and Doug and Justin Morgan have helped me flesh this thing out, the idea is very quickly becoming a combination of everyone's vision (as it should be). This is a work in progress, but it is already well worth your time to look at. Check out http://movietarot.blogspot.com/

There are many days where this works seems thanksless. And then, there are days like today--days where someone I've never met before sends me an email letting me know they are enjoying the work that's being done and that they are working on it too. It makes the weight feel less like a heavy load and more like an honor.

Hi Alan,
I enjoyed listening to your interview with Neil Kramer, and I know you are going to be puzzled about this one (or not).
This morning, in the centre of The Hague (the Netherlands) : there was a collision of two trams.
September 11 (9 11), tram number 9 and 11 collided at exactly 11 minutes to 10 -summertime-. But wintertime, which is in fact the real time, exactly 11 minutes to 9.
It's strange to read the reports, but yes, that's what happened. Tramnumber 9 and 11. No fatalities, but 36 people got injured, so it has made it to the Dutch newspapers. You were expecting something on this day right?
All the best with your work!
-Thijs van Tongeren

Thank you all for another year of support and friendship and fellowship.
Much love,

  1. I heard of the tram smash in Holland in the Oz media, but didn't know about the freaky numerical details.
Isn't the Matrix we live in a strange one.
And speaking of strangeness in the Matrix,
what about Andras's syncing of the Lifehouse songs of "The Who" to the film "The Matrix"?

    Brilliant stuff!

And I know what you mean about finances Alan.
I've just been made redundant from my job of 24 years and feel like I'm freefalling.
And it had to happen on 9/11 didn't it?

  2. Indeed, Andras did a great job with the Lifehouse Matrix. We spoke with him about the project on "Always Record #16"

Sorry to hear about the job loss. Well, not sorry, but you know what I mean. It's good to be free of old confines and embrace the change, but it can of course be a rough patch to get through. Best of luck my friend. Stay strong and trust your instincts.

  3. Thanks Alan.
My instincts/intuition feels really, really good about this change, but my rational mind keeps pestering me with the thought that I had better land on my feet before the money runs out and the bank want their house back.
    It's a scary,but exciting feeling.
The odd thing too was that my wife's job was on the line at one day apart from my own and she works for the government.
    She survived the cut,and I didn't.
Which is good,if one of us had to go,because she loves her job as much as I hated mine.
If you ever want a soul-sucking job that pays the bills, but makes you feel like you are stuck in Rip Van Winkle's nightmare, try working for 24+ years in an IKEA warehouse.
I feel like I've just awakened out of a zombified dream, and it feels pretty good to tell the truth.

  4. Hi Alan, I really enjoy your work and look forward to Sync Book Vol 2 and Suicide Kings. I don't think all of you will ever realise what an inspiration you are to some of us who are less confident in speaking up but who are excited by finding voices that chime with our own quieter ones.

Thank you for sharing, speaking up and being generous, open-hearted and authentic in your communication. I would not have participated in some of the energising conversations I have, nor met some of the wonderful people I now know, without YOU!

Brizdaz - trusting your instincts is cool counsel from Alan. :) I've been made redundant twice and can look back and see what a great thing that was both times! I don't know if this piece of writing will resonate with you but I thought I'd share it. I've only just come across it myself but it describes the way I've kept the flow going effortlessly in my own life. It's a first step anyway... http://montalk.net/metaphys/88/opening-the-flow Wishing you all good things. :)

  5. Thanks for the link Anon,I've bookmarked it and will give it a read soon.
Sync Book Vol 2 has lined up some great authors and I can't wait for it's release either.
Alan asked me to contribute a chapter, but I knocked him back,as I felt I really had nothing to contribute as to what sync truly is,most of that has been covered by the other authors in "Sync book 1".
I'm reading Dr.Kirby Surpise's book "Synchronicity" at the moment and finding it truly interesting...although I disagree with quite a bit of what he thinks sync is,but his heart is in the right place and I think he is going places, but he's not there yet.
I would love him to do a "42min" segment with the boys,as he is worth a listen to.

  6. @Anon
    Thanks for that link -
very interesting, and struck a cord with me.
And thanks for the well wishes, too.
